This is a list of the various secret chemicals in the game, Most of which are more fun, or deadly! If you believe something is wrong, or has changed, Feel free to edit it!

SECRET CHEMICAL RULES AND INFO

A secret chemical is a chemical whose recipe is secret. Secret means a specific thing on Goonstation, and it's different from the kind of secrecy associated with something like "secret underground bunker" or "effects of substance on corpses is secret". The recipes of secret chems are kept hidden to allow for the joy of discovery, and if you wish to reveal the recipe to someone, you must observe some key principles:

  1. The person must explicitly consent to being told the recipe. As with everything in life, silence is not consent.
  2. The reveal must take place in private. This is more nuanced than you think.
    • Your options in-game are very limited, because no means of communications is truly private. PDA messages can be snooped on, paper messages can be read by others, phones, whispering, and face-to-face conversation can be eavesdropped, and Ghosts can accidentally see all of these. Radio is definitely not private, and neither are silicon machine talk or similar. Revealing it in-game might as well not be worth it.
    • Adminhelp, prayer, and mentorhelp are not considered appropriate channels for requesting secret chem recipes.
    • Obviously, public Goonstation Discord and forums are definitely not private.
    • On the other hand, Discord DMs, forum private messages, and the Goonstation Discord #imspoiler channel are all considered acceptable ways to reveal secret chems recipes.

To be clear, saying the names of secret chems or explaining their effects is not violating secret content policy; those are not what makes them secret.

Now with that out of the way: Welcome to the fun section! If you're a scientist who enjoys their job and does it often, then you've probably heard the names of these chemicals thrown around every so often. These are considered the final learning curve before being dubbed an A+ chemist, so if you want to become a true scientific force on the station, taking a stab at these mysteries is within your best interests. Don't be discouraged by their difficulty, you're not the only one! Be diligent, be patient, and use what you've learned from mixing the previous chems on this page. If you're stuck, you can use your Spacebux to buy a Clue scroll, which will give you a hint for one ingredient for one secret chemical. You're also allowed to ask others for hints.

The Chemicals

Reagent Recipe Dep. rate Pen. skin? Per life cycle Immediate effect upon application Addict prob. Notes
Ageinium (1)Nicotine + (1)Tea + (1)Acetone + (1)Chocolate + (1)Formaldehyde -> (3)Ageinium 0.42 No IF AGE < 140: 30% chance to increase age by one.

3% chance of mildly concerning messages about feeling older.

1.2% chance of screaming.
Increases your age, indirectly affecting the pitch of the voice clips used for things like talking, gasping, farting, screaming, c-saber swinging, and toy sword swiping in...interesting ways.

You might not expect it, but it affects chickens too. Specifically, it makes them age twice as fast if injected into them.

Anima (1)Strange Reagent + (1)Changeling Blood + (1)Ectoplasm + (1)Blood + (1)Liquid Dark Matter -> (1)Anima 0.55 No To be created, this must be mixed in the Biodome's Alchemy Circle, It must have 200 total hp around it, or it'll fail and eat your chemicals. Best to use monkeys.

Bombini (1)Bee + (1)Gunfire + (1)Martini + (1)Bee's Knees -> (4) Bombini ? No Bombini wouldn't bee drinking one of these. A couple shots will leave your ears ringing. A sweet and tasty drink when enjoyed in moderation. OVERDOSE (20) Fire 8 spikes, take 10 BRUTE damage, deplete 5u. OVERDOSE (40) Fire 16 spikes, take 20 BRUTE, deplete 10u. Multiple spikes can hit a single target and each spike deals 7 BRUTE damage with a chance to slightly bleed.

Booster Enzyme (1)Strange Reagent + (1)Diethylamine+ (1)Carbon + (1)Ethanol + (1)Hydrogen + (1)Sulfur + (1)Oxygen @ 374k -> (?) Booster Enzyme 0.55 No For each of the following reagents, creates 2 units of it, if there are less than 20 units of said reagent in your bloodstream:

Every time it duplicates a chemical, it leaves behind 1 unit of enzymatic leftovers.

Essentially, keeps meth and certain medical chem levels at around 20 units within your bloodstream, at the cost of clogging your bloodstream with garbage. It won't trigger overdoses for any chems that have them at 20 units or higher, but it can trigger the ones with OD thresholds lower than that, although none of the chems it can duplicate have that.

Useful for farming omnizine and other somewhat rare reagents, if you extract them from the bloodstream with a syringe or an IV bag. Could also help fuel a meth-powered rampage or a heal-chem-mix for the dying.

Be wary of the enzymatic leftovers; they might not harm you directly, but if you let them accumulate, you might hit the 330u reagent cap, and then you'll have very little space left for any other chemicals, e.g. more booster enzyme or chems to get rid of the enzymatic leftovers.

Bubsium (2)Bee + (1)Cholesterol + (1)Pepperoni + (1)Bourbon -> (5)Bubsium 2.625 No When in your system, Your player sprite will grow, and you'll start to attract objects to you like a gravity artifact, As well as saying things like "I AM AN OCEAN OF MUSCLE". A very annoying chemical for anyone but you, Due to it's high dep rate, you'll want to use a starstone infusion.

Chlorine Azide (1)Ammonia + (1)Silver + (1)Nitrogen + (1)Oxygen + (1)Sodium (1)Chlorine -> (?)Chlorine Azide N/A No Small explosion (4x4, low severity). Does not scale with volume. Dumping too many basic chems into a container might accidentally cause this unstable and highly explosive reaction. The explosion from this can destroy objects like the chem dispenser you make it from. The explosion is not prevented by stabilizing agent.

Crabby Party Secret Formula (1)Tetrahydrocannabinol + (1)Cannabidiol + (1)Salt + (1)Water @ 400k -> (?)Crabby Party Secret Formula N/A No Creates a Party Crab on synthesis. Can be made entirely in botany, using a hydroponics tray you can create a crab each time you harvest it. MAY share the same limit as life and fermid.

Crime (1)George Melonium + (1)Organic Superlubricant + (1)Methamphetamine + (1)Ethanol & Must be on Arrest -> (?)Crime ? No Allows you to remove things from people five times faster. Wow. Usually used in conjuction with Starstone Infusions. Cooking a burger with meat containing at least 5u of crime will produce a burgle. The burgle may steal from you if you try to eat it but will reward you with crime, meth and cateyes effects if you manage to take a bite.

Cyclopentanol (1)Acetic Acid + (1) (1)Ether + (1)Barium + (1)Hydrogen + (1)Oxygen-> (?)Cyclopentanol ? No A big nothing burger, has no special effects other then being used as a precursor to some chemicals, Namely Kerosene.

Deepfried Dabs (1)Dabs + (1)The Very Manifestation of Fried Foods (Overfry a Food) -> (?)Deepfried Dabs ? No Forces you to dab. Wow. Syndicates, Captain, and People with Dabbing License, Then *Dab for the Dabs Chemical. Also a precursor.

Extreme Dabs (1)Dabs + (1)Deepfried Dabs + (1)Stabilizing Agent + (1)Crime + (1)Glowing Slurry + (1)Energy Drink -> (?)Extreme Dabs ? No The opposite of Pure Dabs, Whenever you dab, you will dab your arms off immediately.

Pure Dabs (1)Extreme Dabs + (1)Holy Water -> (?)Pure Dabs ? No Like the regular Deepfried Dabs, but without any of the side effects such as; the brain damage and loss of arms.

Disguisium (1)Unstable Mutagen + (1)Stable Mutagen + (1)Changeling Blood + (1)Capulettium plus + (1)Space Cleaner -> (?)Disguisium ? No A complicated chemical. When made it will make the second most common reagent in a container look like the most common reagent. However, its effects will not be changed.

Diluted Transparium (1)Transparium + (2)Water -> (3)Diluted Transparium ? No Works like regular transparium, but just makes you a bit translucent instead of invisible.

Directed Nanites (1)Oil + (1)Synth Flesh + (1)Nanites + (1)Omnizine-> (?)Directed Nanites ? No You can get nanites from roburgers, and omnizine from the restricted medical locker in medbay.

Dragon's Breath (1)Ghost Chili Juice + (1)Pyrosium + (1)Phlogiston + (1)Bourbon + (1)Welding Fuel -> (?)Dragon's Breath 1 No Decays into 5 units of ethanol. 50% chance of 2 seconds of Stunned, 8% chances of various funny text messages. Severe effects scale with volume: [0.2% * volume] chance of +100 seconds of Burning if victim is already on fire, [0.1% * volume] chance of burning them up completely (fire-gibbed) INGEST - If already on fire: 20% chance of +30 seconds of Burning Neutralized by milk. You need hundreds units for the instadeath chance to be noticeable, but a sleepy pen's worth still has disastrous effects on the liver.

A reference to a similarly fiery drink from Hero's Quest, highlighted in this scene.

Denatured Enzyme (1)Booster Enzyme @ 424k -> (?)Denatured Enzyme ? No An otherwise completely useless chem that's a precursor to many other chems, secret and non-secret.

Double Robustium (75)Pyrosium + (5)Atropine + (5)George Melonium + (1)Oxygen + (5)Nicotine + (301)Black Powder-> (55)Double Robustium 5.235 No 5% chance to deal damage to 4 random organs, after 39 life cycles, you'll begin throwing up constantly and after the 69th cycle, you'll turn into a meat cube. Constant messages about being "The Best" or "Robust". The chemical will stay at 1u unless it's removed from your system through other means. Death, explosions, and sobbing. This is a troll, not that you'll be reading this.. 105% Removes the 80% cap for stun resistance, and grants you 95% stun resistance, slowly "melts" your body but constantly heals you while keeping you alive, increases the chance for Disarm to knock items out of hands by 3x, and increases Disarm's chance to push someone over by 2x. The pinnacle of robustness. WARNING:MUST be made in a fuel tank or water cooler, AND have meth in your system, or it'll go boom.

Energy Drink (1)Cola + (1)Coffee + (1)Voltagen-> (?)Energy Drink ? No +3 Stamina Regeneration, adds 1.25 units of caffeine, increased movement speed, reduces duration of incoming Knocked-down, Stunned, & Unconscious debuffs by 15%. Increases body temperature by 5 Kelvin. Causes jitteriness, reduces drowsiness and dizziness, resets sleepiness.

Upon depleting, removes caffeine and causes dizziness and slowed movement. Amount removed and duration of debuffs are based on how long the chem was in your system.

OVERDOSE (25) - Chance to add 2 units of caffeine based on how long the chem was in your system.
0.4% @ 10u Imagine coffee, but with a movement speed buff and a meaner crash and overdose. The OD adding caffeine might seem like a benefit, but remember, if you have 40 or more units of caffeine, you might get a heart attack.

Enriched MSG (1)MSG + (1)Holy Water + (1)Ecto Cooler + (1)Milk + (1)Salt + (1)Chicken Soup + (1)Sugar + (1)Cheese + (1)Space-Soybean Oil + (1)Pepperoni + (1)Beff + (1)Tomato Juice -> (?) Enriched MSG 0.4 No -3 BRUTE, -3 BURN, -1 TOX, -1 OXY. -1 LOSEBREATH.

OVERDOSE (25) - Drooling, missteps, and occasional stuns. Messages about craving tasty food.
INGEST - Huge rainbow message about the food tasting amazing. Always addicts A straightforward and very strong healing chem made slightly more complicated by the fact that even a single unit is enough to instantly addict. This can occur naturally in a few food items.
English Breakfast (1)Refried Beans + (1)Cryostylane + (1)Milk -> (3)English Breakfast 0.4 No 3% to decay into 1 to 10 units of beer. 3% to decay into 1 to 7u of gin. 2% chance to decay into 1 to 3u of gravy. 5% chance to decay into 3 to 13 units of tea, naturally.

1% chance to give you a Chavish accent for roughly half a minute.
Sometimes makes you chavvy and sometimes creates gravy, tea, gin, and beer, the quintessential foods of the Space English. Indirectly inspired by a silly image of the Hat Kid from A Hat in Time eating breakfast.
Feather Fluid (1) Strange Reagent + (1) Colorful Reagent + (1) Hootingum + (1) Mind Eraser + (1) Egg + (1) Chicken Soup + (1) Blood -> (?) Feather Fluid 5.3 No Infects host with Avian Flu. Once stage 4 is complete, turns the infected into a space bird. Spread your wings and... this is space, how would you fly?
Freeze (1) Gin + (1) Cryostylane + (1) Cryoxadone + (1) Menthol + (1) Ether -> (5) Freeze 1 No Decays into 4 units of ethanol, lowers body temperature by 20 Kelvin. 40% chance of 2 BURN damage, 20% chance for 3 seconds of Stunned, 15% chance of coughing, sneezing, and/or gasping, 10% chance of "chilling" messages.

[0.2% * volume] chance of freezing up into an ice statue, resulting in instant death and destroying the body.
Chocolate neutralizes Freeze, removing all traces of it in the body. Like Dragon's Breath, it's fun to put in a sleepy pen. Try combining the two!
Fermid (1) Booster Enzyme + (1)Aranesp + (1)Unstable Mutagen -> (3) Fermid N/A No Fermids are the nasty critters that plagued the (now removed) mining z-level, being stubbornly durable and injecting any human they see with harmful toxins; fortunately they cannot target cyborgs. The recipe used to be laughably easy, but after seeing the harm spontaneous fermid swarms could cause, it was wisely made more difficult and thrown into secrets section.

Note: PLEASE don't spam these as a non-antag. This is why the recipe was changed in the first place
Grog (1) Green Vomit + (1) Bloody Scary + (1) Pepperoni + (1) Rum + (1) Acetone + (1) Welding Fuel + (1) Space Lube + (1) Sulfuric Acid (1) Fluorosulfuric Acid + (1) Teporone + (1) Sugar -> (?) Grog

OR

Find in artifact beakers/watering cans.
0.4 No Makes you a pirate captain complete with dreadlocks, full beard, eyepatch and matching name.

TOUCH
ON MOBS - 75% chance of disfiguring the victim's face and, if applying 5 or more units of grog, inflicting 25 BRUTE. Otherwise 25% of (volume / 2) BRUTE, with minium of 5 BRUTE.
ON ITEMS - 20% chance of melting the item.
Decays into 5.2 units of ethanol. 15% chance of +1 TOX.
Glowing Fliptonium (1) Anima + (1) Fliptonium + (1) Uranium + (1) Space Drugs -> (4) Glowing Fliptonium

OR

Rare, random find in artifact beakers/watering cans.
0.1 No Reduces duration of incoming Knocked-down, Stunned, & Unconscious debuffs by 60%, +4 Stamina Regeneration. Makes you jittery, reduces drowsiness by 12.

Makes you spin a random direction. Starts fast and becomes slower the longer it's in you.

OVERDOSE (15) - Same as fliptonium
1% @ 5u Basically, fliptonium but even more powerful. Don't go too crazy or you'll ruin your eyes.

Once upon a time (as in, before April 22nd, 2021), glowing fliptonium could spin flooringtoo. You can probably imagine how bizarre (and perhaps disorienting) this looked. When applied a mob or object, makes it spin a random direction and speed. No effects on turfs. Effects do not change with dose.
Hootagen (1)Changeling Blood + (1) Strange Reagent + (1) Hootingium + (1) Egg + (1) Sorium + (1) Stable Mutagen -> (?) Hootagen 0.33 No Force equips an owl suit and mask, which you'll be unable to remove without any help, Plays a loud hooting noise aswell. The same affect as the wonk gun, since the wonk gunk just shoots this chemical into you. Nothing special but good for removing jumpsuits or masks from people.
Hootagen (Unstable) (1)Changeling Blood + (1) Strange Reagent + (1) Hootingium + (1) Egg + (1) Sorium + (1) Stable Mutagen @ 318k-> (?) Hootagen 0.33 No 25% Chance to inject 25-50u Of Histmine, regardless of chemical amount
If 5u or less: Take random TOX and BRUTE Damage, 1 * ChemAmount

If 20u or less: 8% Chance to throw up, and a message about hooting all over the place, take random TOX and BRUTE Damage, 2 * ChemAmount

If 20u or more: 4% Chance to either "Start hooting violently" or "Feel as if your hooting is tearing your body apart". You will be knocked down for 15 seconds multiplied by the amount of Unstable Hootagen you have inside your body, become jittery, and a small chance to get owl gibbed.
Not much to be said about this chemical, it's a very strong killer, and good for turning people into owls. This one is a little harder to make because of the boiling temp of changeling blood being slightly above the temp requirement to make this chemical.
Initrobeedril (1) Initropidril + (1) Bee + (1) Honey + (1) Stable Mutagen -> (4) Initrobeedril 0.25 No +1 TOX, turns the victim yellow.

1st to 4th cycles: 33% chance of 2 seconds of Stunned.

5th to 15th cycles: 33% chance of 3 seconds of Stunned, 10% chance of +1 LOSEBREATH and +2 OXY

16th to 25th cycles: 33% chance of 4 seconds of Stunned, 10% chance of +1 LOSEBREATH and +2 OXY, (separate) 10% chance for extra +5 OXY, +1 LOSEBREATH, and 5 seconds of Knocked-down.

26th cycle: Turns victim's heart into a bee, which violently ejects itself, causing a lot of bleeding. Said bee is named "[victim's name]'s heart" and matches color of victim's blood. If victim had a cyberheart, the bee resembles a GuardBuddy, but bee-themed.
Terrifyingly powerful poison, that will quickly, and obviously, turn the victim's heart into a bee, causing cardiac abscondment and ending their life shortly after. Less RNG-dependent than initropidril, as it's virtually guaranteed to kill them once it hits the 26th cycle, unless they get a new heart quickly or they don't need it.
Initropidril (1) Triple Pissed + (1) Holy Water + (1) Methamphetamine + (1) Histamine + (1) Neurotoxin (1) Fluorosulphuric Acid + (1) Stabilizing Agent -> (?) Initropidril

OR

Get from poison bottles.
0.46 No +33 Stamina Regeneration. 33% chance of medium-duration stun OR up to +25 TOX. 10% of +10 OXY and +1 LOSEBREATH OR immediate cardiac arrest. RNG-based poison with a big stamina buff, can either kill you ridiculously fast or agonizingly slowly.
Juggernaut (1) Bo Jack Daniel's + (1) Morphine + (1) Stypic Powder + (1) Silver Sulfadiazine + (1) Salicylic Acid -> (5) Juggernaut ? No A potent painkiller that negates a significant amount of walkspeed loss from being hurt, with the additional special effect of absorbing and healing a portion of brute and burn damages taken between life cycles. Hits the user with the absorbed damage as it leaves their system.

OVERDOSE - Confused movement, dropping held items, stuns, forgetting how to breathe.
The damage-absorbing capabilities get less effective the more damage it has absorbed and the longer it has been present in your system. Has a slightly less-than-average depletion rate but also a low overdose threshold and fairly debilitating overdose effects. Bad side-effects occur if it's in your system for far too long.
Kerosene (1) Cyclopentanol + (1) + (1) Acetone + (3) Oxygen + (1) Hydrogen + (1) Nickel + (1) Aluminium @ 874k-> (?) Kerosene 0.46 No Small to large fireball, scales with volume (up to 8x8). 5u Of Kerosene, If Above 673K Will QDel Anthing Made Of Steel , Useful for breaking into places. Rich mans Thermite.
